Misting Technology
Misting technology is based on the principle of
evaporative cooling.
Whenever a molecule of water leaves a surface,
it is said to have evaporated. Each water
molecule that becomes water vapor takes a parcel
of heat with it. This process is called
evaporative cooling. Simply stated, evaporative
cooling is the process of removing heat from the
air by using water vapor.
”The Original” Backyard Breeze, Ceiling Fan Mister
™ uses evaporative cooling to lower the
temperature of the surrounding area. Misting
fans are more effective than misting line
systems or only fans by themselves due to the
combination of circulating air and mist. When
the movement of the air blends with the mist,
the result is an acceleration of the evaporation
process with a rapid drop in the temperature of
up to 25 degrees Fahrenheit!
The human body is designed to operate at 98.6°.
When the air temperature, combined with humidity
moves the Heat Stress Index above 90° the human
body becomes stressed. In order for the core
body temperature to be maintained at a safe
level, two elements are necessary: 1.)
Convection (wind) and 2.) Evaporation
(sweating). As the Heat Index rises, the body
produces more sweat in order to cool itself.
Prolonged exposure drains the body of vital
